Background Info

Peter Kimani was born on 26th February 2017 in the Rhonda slums of Nakuru County. He is the last child of Sarah Njeri. Peter has an elder sister Esther, and Brother Calvin. They live together in Ponda Mali slum.

Sarah Njeri (Peter’s mother) is 33 years old. She was born in a poor family where they could barely afford their basic needs. Sarah and her siblings had to drop out of primary school to look for work. As a teenager, Sarah decided to move to Nakuru town to work as a house help. She sent the little money she got back home to help out her parents and younger siblings. Sarah met a man who made it believable that he would give her a better life. They had three children Peter being the last.

Peter’s father was struggling to fend for the children with his meagre salary. Sarah tried to look for a job to help out the family but was unable to get any. As a result of the financial pressure, Peter’s parents would often quarrel. This they did in front of the children. The quarrel slowly escalated into domestic violence that made Peter’s mother walk out of the union with the children. The infuriated Peter’s father would still follow the family where they were hosted to argue with Sarah (Peter’s mother

Peter and his family are currently surviving in the Ponda Mali slums of Nakuru. The children depend on what their mother Sarah brings to the table at the end of the day. To fend for her children, Peter’s mother has to take up any jobs that come her way. Most of the times, she is rarely at home which leaves Peter under the care of his equally young sister, Esther. What she makes cannot cater for the household’s expenses. Peter and his siblings were unable to be in school for lack of money.

Peter was admitted to EDGEL Academy in 2023 after he was assessed and considered in need of our support. He is a charming young boy.

Peter needs a sponsor.
