Background Info

Dylan Mwasoko was born on 30th October 2017 in Nairobi city, Kenya. He has a twin brother called Nylan Masha. The two currently live in Nakuru County with their single Mother Jackline Anyango and two elder brothers.

Dylan’s mother (Jackline Anyango) lost her parents at a young age. She was taken in by close relatives who promised her a normal life. This was, however, not so. The relatives would move her from one relative to another within a short span. This affected Jackline’s education. None of the relatives was also willing to take her to school. Jackline was frustrated with how her relatives treated her. She had to drop out of school.

As a school drop-out, Dylan’s mother met a young man called Alfred and the two got into a romantic relationship. This union led to Jackline’s first pregnancy. Alfred was not pleased with the pregnancy. He, however, agreed to marry Jackline. In 2013, Jackline had her second pregnancy. She gave birth to her first set of twins Gian and Ryan. Alfred was so shocked by the incident. He feared that he would not be able to provide for his rapidly growing family. He came up with a plan on how to get rid of them (Jackline and the three children). He subtly tricked Jackline away and got himself a new wife. Jackline realized Alfred’s trick when it was already too late. Jackline had to move on as a single mother.

In 2016, Dylan’s mother met Titus. He is the father of the two twins (Dylan and Nilan). The pregnancy was unplanned since it was as a result of a failed family planning method. Titus was infuriated by the pregnancy and abandoned the family. Jackline moved from Nairobi to Nakuru with the help of a relative. She now had four children because the eldest was taken up by a relative.

In Nakuru, the family has been surviving on casual jobs. This is so because of increased rate of unemployment in Kenya. Also, Jackline is uneducated therefore she cannot get a good employment. She has struggled to look after her four sons. She was referred to EDGeL Mission by the community.

After the assessment of his home, we admitted Dylan and Nilan in EDGEL Academy in 2023. Unlike his brother, Dylan is an extrovert and joyful.
