Background Info Clevian Aoko was born in Nakuru County on 1st April 2016. She is the fifth child of Leah Anyango and James Ongalo. Clevian has six siblings. Clevian and her two sisters Daisy and Millicent are beneficiaries of EDGEL Mission. Clevian, her parents and siblings currently live in a small dilapidated room in Kwa-Rhonda slums Nakuru County. Clevian's parents (Leah and James) got married in their teenage years. They are both uneducated and unemployed. Leah and James are Staunch traditionalist. The grew up in the village holding up the belief that a household should have as many children as possible. They adopted this norm in their marriage giving birth to Clevian and her five siblings in quick succession. The number of children they got outgrew their capability to provide for them. This plunged the family deep into poverty. The situation at Clevian’s home became unbearable. The family could not afford basic necessities. They would go without food for several days. The number of children also made it difficult for the parents to provide their school fees. As a result, two of Clevian’s elder siblings ended up in the streets. Clevian, on the other hand, had to stay at home since she was comparatively young. She had however attained school going age. Clevian would take care of the house and her younger brother while her parents went out to look for casual jobs. This was noticed by a concerned neighbor who alerted Edgel of the same. During our assessment, we ascertained that the information we had received from the neighbor was truthful. The situation at the home proved that she needed educational support. Clevian was admitted to Edgel in 2022. Clevian is a hard-working young girl. In aid of EDGeL Mission. To make small Donations. |
