Background Info

David Gichuki was born on 21st May 2012. He was born in Nakuru County, Kenya. David is the first chid of Priscilla Kerubo. Priscilla is 32 years old. He is a mother of two. Priscilla gave birth to David when she was a high school student life for her has always been a struggle. Her relationship with her mother, Florence Nyanchama, has always been strained.

Her mother has always been depressed because of her marital woes. Her depression made her a bitter mother who would yell and abuse Priscilla and her siblings whenever she wanted. Priscilla tried to find peace outside her home. This made her get into a relationship at a young age. Priscilla got pregnant when she was 16 years.

The man responsible for the pregnancy was not interested in being a father. He travelled from the estate without telling Pricilla. Her mother was so angry. She did not want any additional burden in her house. She did not chase away Pricilla, but she continued stressing her. Pricilla gave birth to David and went back to school. David was left with his grandmother Florence. Pricilla finished her high school education, but due to stress, she did not perform well. Either way, she had no means of going to college.

Life at home with her mother, Florence, was hard, and Priscilla was psychologically tormented. She tried looking for casual jobs so she could be financially independent. She managed to rent a small mud house a short distance from her mother’s place; she wanted David to maintain a good relationship with his grandmother Florence. Life was hard for Priscilla and David; she could barely get enough for the day. This was how she fell for a man who expressed interest in her. The man was a construction worker. He was just temporarily in town and was looking for a woman to cost him to evade costs. Priscilla did not know this. The man left her once his job was done.

That is when Priscilla also discovered that she was pregnant again. She had no way of accessing the man and had to get back to working casual jobs. Her mother openly expressed her disapproval of her behaviour. She claimed that Priscilla was a careless woman and might be engaging in prostitution. Priscilla got a baby boy and continued struggling for her children. Priscilla still doesn’t get along with her mother, Florence, but her children cherish their grandmother. Priscilla once got a job offer out of town, but her mother refused to help look after the children. She is currently struggling and unable to provide for the two children. David was assessed and admitted to EDGeL Mission in 2019. He is fighting for his future in school.
