Background Info
Samuel Ochieng was born in Nakuru County in the year 2014. He has two sisters and a brother. He is the last-born child of Lilian Akinyi Otieno. Lilian is an orphan and a widow. She comes from a humble background. Her parents died when she was young. She was tossed from one relative to another. She did not perform well in school. She, therefore, finds it hard to get any job. Lilian can only get house help jobs. She moved to Nakuru to work as a house help. She then met her first husband, Maurice Ochieng, in 2003. Maurice was a casual labourer in Nakuru town. They believed that they could raise a family together. They got married. Lilian moved into Maurice’s house in the Kwa-Rhonda slums
They were blessed with a baby girl in 2004. Unfortunately, Maurice died in 2009 in a road accident. Lilian was dismissed by his family. They took everything she owned and there her out with the baby. Lilian struggled to raise her daughter. She found work as a house help, and they allowed her to work with the baby. During this period, Lilian met Samuel’s father. He was comfortable with marrying her and the child. They gave birth to Samuel in 2014. They got another child in 2017. Samuel’s father was a businessman. In 2018, he also died in a road accident. He was coming back from a business trip from Uganda. Lilian believes she is cursed. She believes she is doomed to have a hard life since she was born. Lilian and her children reside in Pembe Mbili, Nakuru West sub-county. Her life is very hard. She cleans for people to get some food for the three children. She cannot afford their basic needs. Her first daughter decided to get married at 17. Lilian has been struggling to make ends meet to feed herself and her children. Samuel Ochieng was admitted to Prince of Peace School in the year 2019 after a fieldwork assessment at his home. He is an enthusiastic learner.
