Background Info
Destiny Otieno was born in Nakuru County in the year 2014. He is the only son of Esther Atieno Owiti. Destiny lives with his grandmother in a slum called Nyumba Nyeusi, Nakuru West sub-county. His mother resides in mwariki estate where she works as house help. She was impregnated by a friend which she hoped would take responsibility of her pregnancy but to no avail.
She wasn’t lucky to get married forcing her to come back and live her mother. She saw the difficulty her mother was going through raising both her and destiny. She decided to look for a house help position which she does up to now.
Destiny’s grandmother (Consolata Akinyi) is a widow whose husband was murdered during the 2007 post-election violence. She is 57 years and lives from hands to mouth since she sells fried potatoes by the road side. She struggles a lot having no one to rely on in the support of her five grandchildren. She relies on well-wishers for survival.
Destiny was admitted at Prince of Peace School in January of 2019 after a field work assessment at their home. He is currently in pre-primary two level of study. Destiny is outgoing and enthusiastic.
