Background Info
Nelious Muthoni was born in the year 2015 in sewage slums, Nakuru County. She is the last child of Pauline Mwihaki. Pauline is 32 years old. Pauline was also raised in a slum since she too comes from a poor background. Due to poverty, Pauline never got a chance to finish her primary school education.
The only thing she wanted was to get married. Pauline believed that since she was not educated, she would find a man who would give her a better life. With this in mind, Pauline got married at a young age to escape poverty.
Pauline met her husband in 2005. He was a casual laborer in Nakuru town. Finding a working man was attractive to Pauline despite what they were doing. She thought that since the man was working, life would be good. Within a short time, Pauline got pregnant. She gave birth to her first child when she was 17 years.
Things became harder at home. What her husband earned was barely enough for the small family. Pauline had to look for casual jobs to help out with the bills and needs. Since she did not have any training, all she could get were simple jobs. The payment was too low that it did not have much impact on their overall income. Pauline later added three more children, with Nelious, presumably, being the last. She has four children, two boys and two girls. They currently live in Kwa-Rhonda slums, Nakuru County. Pauline works at a small kiosk, while Nelious’ father is a hawker. The two earn so little that they can’t satisfy their children’s needs. She is a very hardworking and determined girl.
