Background Info

Jojil Akinyi was born on 7th June 2014. She was born in Kisumu County. She is the first child of Lilian Akinyi. Lilian has three children. She was born and raised in Kisumu County. Lilian came from a family of fishermen. They lived near the great Lake Victoria. The males in her family would go fishing as an economic activity. However, this business did not give them much. Sometimes they caught enough fish to sell, and sometimes they got nothing. Also, the competition was high. Many people in the area were fishermen. Sometimes the family would be forced to eat the fish caught because of the lack of a market.

They preferred getting into the fishing business to help out the large family. It was in one of these business activities that Lilian met a young man. They got into a relationship. Lilian fell pregnant shortly after. The man was not happy about being a father at that time. He left the village without telling Lilian. Lilian struggled with the pregnancy. Sometimes she had to walk long distances to sell fish when pregnant. She gave birth to Jojil in 2014. She went back into the business shortly after. Lilian was aware that this family business was not profitable. She decided to look for some work to help her family. She left Jojil at her home and came to Nakuru to work as a house help. After four years in Nakuru, she met a man working as a casual labourer in Nakuru town. They got into a romantic relationship. Lilian agreed to leave her job as a housemaid and get married to the man. The man convinced Lilian that he would care for her and Jojil. Lilian agreed to bring Jojil from Kisumu to Nakuru. She later got two children with this man. He started changing and becoming irresponsible. He also became hostile towards Jojil. He would beat her up without a meaningful reason. Lilian has to struggle to care for the children. The man claims that he does not earn enough. Sometimes he does not come back home for ages. Lilian is unable to cater for the children’s needs and education. Jojil was admitted to Prince of Peace School in January 2019. She is Dedicated and Joyful.
