Background Info

Shalone Sizia was born on the 8th of July, 2013. She was born in Homabay County, Kenya. She is the second born of Yvonne Atieno. Yvonne is 28 years old widow. She has three children, Tikvah, Shalone, and Marshal. Tikvah is 12 years, and Marshal is six years old. Yvonne comes from a poor background. She lived with a struggling mother who could not afford to care for her and her siblings.

Her mother decided to take Yvonne to a relative. Yvonne went to live with her uncle. The uncle took her to the local primary school. After some time, life at her uncle’s place became unbearable. Yvonne did not have any peace. She was overworked and denied food

Sometimes she was beaten up for mistakes that were not hers. Shadrach was 20 years Yvonne started wishing for a peaceful home. That is when she met her Shadrack. Yvonne was 15 years old. Yvonne got pregnant. Her uncle threw her out of the home. She had to move in with Shadrack. He was a casual laborer around Homabay village. They agreed to marry and raise a family. Yvonne gave birth to Tikvah at home. Shadrack was an orphan, and the family did not like Yvonne. They made her life miserable.

Yvonne later gave birth to Shalone. Her life became more difficult. She would stay hungry when her husband Shadrack was not around. Shadrack decided to move from the home with his family. He found work in Nakuru County. He worked as a mechanic in a garage. His salary was little, but he managed to take care of his family. They welcomed baby Marshal in the year 2017. When Marshal was two months old, Shadrack fell very ill. His condition worsened, and he died a few days later. His family ambushed Yvonne. They took everything they owned. Yvonne had to go back to her home. When Shadrack was a year old, she decided to come back to Nakuru. Her mother was unwell. It was hard to leave her with all three children.

Yvonne had to distribute her children to other relatives. She was hosted in Nakuru by a female friend. The friend could see how depressed Yvonne was. She gave her KES 1000 to go and get her children. They moved into a small mud house in the Kwa-Rhonda slum. Yvonne worked and had to care for the children. She would clean for people the whole day. This is still the work that she currently does. The work does not give her enough for their basic needs. She could not enrol her children in school. Shalone was admitted to Prince of Peace School in 2019 after a field visit assessment at their home. She is currently in grade one. Shalone is cooperative and well-mannered.

Shalone needs a sponsor.
