Background Info
Fidel Castro is the fifth Child of Irene Adhiambo. Fidel was born in the year 2013 in the slums of Kwa-Rhonda, Nakuru, Kenya. He currently lives with his mother, Irene Adhiambo, in Barut slums. Irene is 40 years old. She has seven children with different fathers. They are Kevin, Cynthia, Pamela, Joan, Fidel, Walter, and Cathy.
Irene was raised in a poor home in Migori County, Kenya. The family could not afford their basic needs. This includes food and school fees for Irene and her siblings. Irene was forced to drop out of school when she was just ten years old. Life at home was very hard and marriage became her only hope. At 14 years, she got into a relationship with a young man in her village. She got pregnant shortly after with her first child, Kevin. Kevin's father refused to marry her. He claimed that he was not ready. Three years later, Irene met and got married to Fidel's father. She gave birth to four children, Cynthia, Pamela, Joan and Fidel. The man was a drunkard and extremely violent. Irene had to ran away from the marriage after fearing for her life. This man later died in 2015. Irene struggled with casual jobs to put food on the table. Kevin and Pamela dropped out of school and ran away from home. Nobody knew where where they had gone. The five remaining children were still a big burden to her. She desparately needed help.
Irene was lured by a man who promised to look after her and her children. She got into a relationship with him and gave birth to Walter. A year later, she got pregnant with Cathy. The man saw her and the children as a burden and sought for ways to get rid of them. He decided to leave and never came back. Irene had to look for casual jobs to make ends meet. She could not land any decent work since she was uneducated and was of poor health. She attempted different businesses but had to shut them down. This is because her family needs outweighed the business income.
Irene started drinking cheap liquor and became an irresponsible mother. All along, Fidel and the siblings lived with Irene in a single dilapidated room. They witnessed her relationships with different men. Cynthia, at 15-years, met a man who pretended to care for her. She got pregnant and gave birth to a baby boy. She had to leave the baby with Irene to go back to school. Two months later, the baby died. The infant died of hunger and neglect since Irene was careless. The family was refered to EDGeL Mission by the community. Fidel Castro was admitted to Prince of Peace School in 2019 after a field assessment at their home. Fidel is very hardworking and zelous.
